Hello, I’m Sam — the founder of Humankind Candles.

Humankind was born from a simple truth: everyday objects should be beautiful enough to display, meaningful enough to gift, and human enough to love.

The Why

I started making candles when I was stressed at work and burning one every evening to relax. Some scents gave me headaches, and many felt disposable or uninspired. Yet, whenever friends visited, they’d always say how warm and inviting my home felt.

That contrast stuck with me. I’ve always surrounded myself with timeless, high-quality design — my 100+ year old milking bench, vintage Marcel Breuer chairs, and custom Knoll bedframe are proof. But I couldn’t find candles that embodied the same level of thoughtfulness, craft, and beauty. Even luxury brands fell short.

So I created Humankind: dual-scented candles that reflect the duality of the human condition. Feelings are fleeting, often in tension with one another. Our candles mirror reality - they transform as they burn, offering you two distinct experiences in one. It’s like having two flavors of ice cream in one cone: a surprise, a delight, and a ritual that evolves with you.

Made With Care
Each candle has been tested for scent throw and burn quality. We use a unique blend of soy and coconut wax to ensure a long, clean burn, hand-poured with FSC-certified wooden wicks for a gentle, crackling sound.

Rooted In Nature
We only use safe, phthalate-free, paraben-free fragrance oils, blended into coconut soy wax. Our candles are vegan, cruelty-free, and emit minimal CO₂. Beauty should never come at the cost of people, animals, or the planet.

Human Service
Humankind means human connection. Instead of automated replies, you get me. Because the candle is only part of the gift; the rest is the care behind it.
